Unfortunately, or possibly fortunately, I have not been able to attend the last two games for Forest. This means I missed two draws, one away against Middlesbrough (1-1), the other at home against Doncaster (0-0).

From what I've heard, neither game was particularly inspiring. This leaves me in a less than able place to comment on the games themselves. Andy Reid appears to have made a miraculous recovery from his 6 week injury after less than 6 days. Good news supposedly, though I'm sure I'm not the only Forest fan panicking that his early departure in the Doncaster game isn't another knock that he's picked up. This could be the worst case scenario, especially as we have our bitter rivals, Derby County, to play this Saturday. Further worrying is the fact that we have made so questionable starting team selections over the past few games. 

This could lead to a few tears before the game, especially if Forest fans see likes of Collins, Harding, Moussi and Halford all in the same starting line up.

However, the next game IS Saturday. It's the big one so you will have my next Forest blog following that particular game. 

If we lose,  maybe give me a few days to get over it.

I haven't been looking forward to this...

5 days later, I feel as though I'm possibly finally recovered from my huge emotional hangover. Don't get me wrong, I've felt worse... The play off trouncing against Yeovil had me in tears long into the new season... but the game on Saturday was up there with one of the worst days I've ever experienced; however, only from a performance perspective.  I do have to come out and say it; Derby County 5 - 0 Nottingham Forest.  I was never entirely confident entering the game. There was an element of hope surrounding us, but from what I could tell on social network sites and from fellow bloggers, in honesty, Forest fans went into that game with a 'if we get a point it's an achievement' view.  Nevertheless it was a typical derby day feeling. New year, new everything...

It's safe to say that when I sat down to start writing this blog, I had no idea how I would even begin. It is a yearly tradition for me to sum up the past 12 months, mainly as a form of expression, but also as a way of me looking back each year and seeing how far everything has come. But, this year, how do I even begin to say what 2018 has been to me? Well firstly, it has been challenging. It has. I can't hide from the fact that the personal challenges that I have faced this year have been difficult, but I have also had to see people close to me make some tough choices too. As someone who places friendships and family high on their priorities, this has been difficult to watch. Primarily, this year I have felt a very harsh deterioration of a relationship. Non-League Football

I write today having had my eyes opened wider to another side of football. Non-League. I'm not talking about the likes of Grimsby Town or Chester- more the teams whose players take on another part time job and can recall every name of the less than 100 fans that go and watch every week. I say opened wider, because having visited non-league football before, I do know what it's all about. But, on Saturday I witnessed the same lower standard football, cold weather and small ground, yet left with both a bubble in my heart and a stab in the chest.  My first game for Nottingham Forest was in 2001 away at Crystal Palace. I remember leaving that game filled with an emotion that I'd never felt before. Of course I feel that feeling all the time now, but back then, I didn't understand the world of football.
